Holiday Morning French Toast

1/2 C butter, melted
1 C brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

3 tart apples, peeled, cored, and thinkly sliced
1/2 C dried cranberries

1 loaf French or Italian bread cut into 1" slices

6 large eggs
1 1/2 C milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon

Put butter in a 9x13 pan and melt.  Add brown sugar and cinnamon and stir.  Add apples and cranberries and toss to coat.  Spread evenly over bottom of baking dish.  Arrange bread slices on top.

Mix eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until well blended.  Pour over bread, soaking bread completely.  Cover and refrigerate 4-24 hours.

Bake, covered, in a preheated 375 oven for 40 minutes.  Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes.  Remove, let stand 5 minutes and serve warm.  Serves 8 starving adults.
