Cranberry Orange Scones

Preheat oven to 400.

Lightly butter a 10" diameter circle in the center of a baking sheet or stone.

In small bowl, stir together

1/2 C fresh or thawed cranberries, drained
2 Tb sugar

In large bowl, stir together
1/4 C sugar
2 C flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Cut in
1/2 C chilled butter

In a second small bowl, stir together
2 lg eggs
2 Tb orange juice
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp grated orange peel

Add egg mixture to flour mixture and stir to combine.

Knead in cranberry mixture and
1/2 C shopped pecans

Pat dough into 9 inch diameter circle in center of baking sheet/stone.  Brush with an egg wash.  Cut into wedges, bake 20-25 minutes and then cool for 5.
